Our journey with you beyond just your confinement

At Yanxi Mama, we believe that when the mummy is well taken care of, she will naturally be able to give the best care to her baby. The daddy, who plays an equally crucial role, would have an easier time balancing career, wife, and baby.

That’s why, our commitment to you starts even before your Confinement begins, and goes beyond after your Confinement ends. We want our mummies to feel ready to take over the care of the baby, while returning to the best shape of her life.

FAQS ABOUT YANXI MAMA

  • A confinement nanny, also known as a postpartum nanny or “月嫂”, is a professional caregiver who provides specialised care to new mothers and their babies during the confinement period. ‍

In Chinese tradition, confinement is believed to be a crucial time for postpartum recovery and bonding between mother and baby. It usually lasts for 28 days to 16 weeks after delivery. ‍

‍ Speak with us to find out how our confinement nanny can suit your postpartum needs.

  • A confinement nanny’s duties includes assistance with breastfeeding, newborn care, postpartum healing, and the preparation of nutritious postpartum meals.

The specific tasks a Chinese postpartum nanny performs include supporting the mother with rest, managing household chores, and providing expert care for the new baby, such as bathing, feeding, and monitoring the baby’s health.

Their role is to facilitate the mother’s recovery through Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles, with a strong emphasis on supporting the mother’s physical health and well-being through specialized care, massage, and guidance, ensuring that both mother and new baby receive the best care possible during this challenging transition.

  • Any mother can benefit from the services of a confinement nanny, regardless of her age or background. Whether you are a first-time mother or have had children before, a confinement lady can provide you with much-needed support during this period of adjustment. ‍

First-time mums benefit more from the confinement nanny as the experienced nanny is not just able to guide you through, but also offer the emotional support especially during difficult times.

  • There are several avenues you can explore to hire a confinement nanny in Singapore. One method is through personal recommendations or word of mouth from friends, family, or colleagues who have previously used such services. ‍

Alternatively, consider engaging a confinement nanny agency in Singapore that specialise in connecting families with qualified and experienced nannies just like at Yanxi Mama.

  • We recommend hiring a confinement nanny as soon as possible after giving birth. Most of our clients actually start enquiring even before the end of their first trimester. ‍‍

This is because the confinement period is believed to be a crucial time for postpartum recovery and bonding between mother and baby.

  • While having your parents’ assistance during the confinement period is invaluable, deciding whether to hire a confinement lady depends on your individual needs and circumstances. ‍

Factors to consider include the expertise a nanny can offer in postnatal care and newborn management, the potential workload on your parents, and your own rest and recovery needs. Additionally, confinement nannies are knowledgeable about traditional confinement practices, which may be helpful to ensure a smooth postpartum experience.

  • While it is not mandatory to hire a confinement nanny, many new parents in Singapore choose to do so because they believe it can greatly benefit their physical and emotional recovery after childbirth, as well as help them adjust to the demands of caring for a newborn. ‍

Hiring a confinement nanny can provide new parents with much-needed support during this period of adjustment, and can also alleviate some of the stress associated with caring for a newborn, such as sleep deprivation and anxiety. ‍‍

This is especially so for first-time parents where everything is new to them. Not knowing what to do when the baby is crying or in an emergency situation can be extremely stressful.
